BITTER WATER RESCUE RANCH
Get to know us

Melissa Lanz is the owner/operator of Bitter Water Rescue Ranch who sees to the every day operation of the ranch.  Melissa was raised on the family farm and has great work ethics.  It is her desire that every llama that she comes in contact with is used to its best possible protental, that no llama would ever be abused or abandoned.
Because of past health problems that prevent Melissa from attending a public school system she has recieved her education at home.  Also because of her past health problems Melissa has found that herbal medication has worked the best for her problems.  While helping her parents out on their cow/calf operation Melissa has found some herbs that help different problems that appear amoung livestock.  Melissa now uses herbs before she uses convenitional medications on her llamas.  She has had more success using herbs that have no side effects, than with convenitional drugs.
Every llama that comes on the the ranch is evaluated to see what he or she needs and than a program is developed for that animal.  Time is not an issue as some things take time to come forward.
Most of the animals at BWRR have at one time been in a state of need with no other home to go to.  There are regrister breding males, geldings, and regrister breding females, abused cases, abandoned llamas, great work in progress at BWRR.  Some are permanent residents and others are ready to go to a new home soon.  Melissa would like to visit each home before she send her residents out.  This way she is sure they will not returning in a worse state than that they leave in.  So if you are looking for some new blood lines to add to your llama herd call and talk to Melissa about who she has.
Melissa is always willing to talk to any one who is truly interested in what she is doing or interested in her llamas.  Melissa is also willing to talk to anyone who wishes to help in way.  The BWRR is a non profit ranch and as such is alway in need of help in many forms.  There is alway a need for feed, buildings to be built, corrals to mend, and so much more.  Because BWRR is non profit there is always a need for some finanically aid.
If you are interested in knowing more about Melissa or her rescue ranch give her a call.
